Echoes of Blackburn Meadows is now transmitting

The first of EBM’s hidden transmitters has been successfully broadcasting since dawn on Friday 25th September. A huge thank you for all those who came along to tune in and to those who made it down to our shop on Pinstone Street for our launch event. We managed to collect even more memories of the power station and of the various electrical ephemera on display in our shop window.

If the display triggers your memories of Blackburn Meadows or of the development of Sheffield’s electricity supply, and you wish to share them with the team, contact Jennifer on 0114 258 5885 or at jennifer@sheffieldelectricity.com. This is just the first phase of the project and your memories are crucial to the development of the artwork over the coming months.

Note that we are experiencing technical difficulties with those receivers available to hire in the Local Studies library. Whilst we do a spot of troubleshooting, we recommend you use an alternative device such as a radio or mobile phone with an FM receiver. Any technical queries, just phone the team on 0114 258 5885. Remember we’re also broadcasting from a separate solar powered transmitter located in our shop window at 106 Pinstone Street. MAP
