Echoes of Blackburn Meadows goes live on Friday 25th September 2009

We are very excited to announce the launch of the first transmitter of Echoes of Blackburn Meadows, following a recent grant from the Arts Council.

To celebrate the launch, we’re holding a series of workshops on Friday 25th and Saturday 26th of September at the Sheffield Showcase office on Pinstone Street. The workshops are being held between 10am and 4pm on both days. Anyone interested in attending should contact Jennifer on 0114 258 5885/ 07841 869882 or at jennifer@sheffieldelectricity.com.

During the workshops, we’ll be getting you to build your own FM radio receivers, which you’ll be using to tune into the artwork. We’ll be handing out maps to help you to hunt down the artwork, which we’ve hidden somewhere on the towpath close to the Tinsley/Meadowhall South tram stop.

The Sheffield Showcase is also the venue for a unique interactive shop window. Make sure to have your FM radio receivers at the ready if you’re passing by so you can tune into samples of the artwork.

Participant toolkits, which include a map, FM radio receiver and a pair of headphones, will be available for hire free of charge from Sheffield Central Library. Mobile phones with in-built radios can also tune in to the artwork. Admission to the workshops is FREE.
